Chris Marlowe returned to ESPN in August of 1997 on an exclusive basis, providing play-by-play for men's and women's college basketball, college football (in addition to sideline reporting) and all levels of volleyball. Marlowe has previously enjoyed a multitude of spot assignments with
ESPN in these sports.

Marlowe comes to ESPN from Prime Sports West (now Fox Sports West) in Los Angeles, where he handled a variety of assignments: volleyball (pro, college), San Diego State football, UCLA, Pepperdine and San Diego State men's basketball, baseball, boxing, track and field, soccer, water polo, wrestling, and host of UCLA Sports Magazine. He also worked with NBC in its pro beach volleyball and 1996 Olympic volleyball coverage, and also called the 1988 and '92 Olympics for NBC. Additionally, Marlowe's been seen on ABC, CBS and TBS.

Considered America's premier volleyball commentator, Marlowe has called every major volleyball event since 1981.

A volleyball standout himself, Marlowe captained the USA Olympic team in both 1976 and 1984, capturing the '84 gold medal. He competed professionally on the beach for ten years (1975-84), winning nine major championships, including the 1977 world title. He led San Diego State to the NCAA title in 1973 and was a first team All-American.

Marlowe also excelled in basketball, earning 1969 high school All-American honors at Palisades High School in Los Angeles, and lettering four seasons at SDSU, where he earned Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA) "Newcomer of the Year" honors (1970), PCAA All-Conference (1974) and set a school record by playing in 114 consecutive games.

Marlowe is a 1974 graduate of San Diego State with a B.A. in physical education.
