- CSTV NCAA Lacrosse
Play-by-Play Announcer

Joe Beninati, 38, begins his 11th season of NHL television play-by-play with the Washington Capitals, his eighth as the lead voice for Comcast Sportsnet and its predecessor HTS. In addition to his hockey work in the nation's capital, Beninati has freelanced with ESPN, NHL Radio, and WFAN broadcasts during the regular season, Stanley Cup Playoffs, and World Cup of Hockey.

A two-time Capital Region Emmy Award winner for excellence in composite play-by-play, Joe has called numerous ACC and CAA college events covering seven different sports on Comcast Sportsnet. He has been a fill-in TV play-by-play man for Baltimore Orioles baseball the last four seasons, and since 2002 has completed his summer schedule describing the action on the nationally televised Major League Lacrosse Game of the Week on ESPN2.

This fall, College Sports Television (CSTV) has added Joe to its play-by-play lineup on men's and women's soccer. During the spring semester he will be at the microphone for college lacrosse on CSTV.

Beninati is entering his 5th year as a radio play-by-play voice on Westwood One for NCAA and NFL football. In 2002 he provided play-by-play for Westwood's coverage of the Olympic men's and women's hockey tournament in Salt Lake City. His resume includes two full seasons of radio play-by-play with the Washington Mystics of the WNBA and fill-in work with the Washington Wizards in the NBA.

Joe graduated to the NHL in 1994 after working five seasons of Radio/TV play-by-play in the American Hockey League system of the Boston Bruins with stops in Portland, Maine and Providence, Rhode Island. Prior to joining the professional ranks he was sports information director at his alma mater Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
