Football Analyst
Terry Donahue is a former college football player and coach, NFL General Manager, and college
football and NFL broadcaster.
Currently, Terry is an analyst for Westwood One’s football coverage. Prior to that, Terry was
a studio analyst on “College Football Now” which aired on the NFL Network (2006-2008). In
addition to his work at the NFL Network, Terry was a game analyst for FOX’s coverage of NFL
and college football, working on their bowl Championship Series as well.
From 1999-2005, Terry was a member of the San Francisco 49ers front office. Terry joined the
organization as the Director of Player Personnel and in 2001 was named General Manager of the
team.
After leaving the 49ers in 2005, Terry returned to broadcasting when he joined FOX as the
lead-game analyst for its coverage of college football’s Cotton Bowl. Terry also served as lead
college football analyst for CBS Sports from 1996-1998.
Before turning to broadcasting, Terry was the winningest coach in Pac 10 football history,
posting a 151-74-8 record during a 20-year (1976-95) Head Coaching career at UCLA.
While Terry was the head coach, UCLA produced 34 first-team All-Americans and had 14 players
selected in the first round of the NFL draft.
The Southern California native went to UCLA as a walk-on and started two seasons (1965-66) at
defensive tackle. After graduating in 1967, he became defensive line coach at Kansas before
returning to UCLA as offensive line coach in 1971. He assumed the head coaching position when
Dick Vermeil resigned to coach the Philadelphia Eagles in 1976.
Terry lives in California with his wife Andrea. They have three grown children: Nicole, Michele,
and Jennifer.
