Marques Johnson Analyst Reel


Marques Johnson is a former professional and college basketball standout and an accomplished
sports broadcaster. Marques a former three time All-American at UCLA and a five-time NBA
All-Star, is currently the lead basketball analyst for FOX Sports Net and FoxSports.com.
 
Beginning in the 2000-01 season, Marques hosted “Baseline to Baseline”, a season long weekly
NBA preview and review show on FOX Sport Radio. He also reported from the 2000 NCAA Final
Four in Indianapolis and 2000 NBA Finals for the National Sports Report. Prior to joining National
Sports Report
, Johnson was the color analyst for the Seattle Sonics for four seasons on FOX
Sports Net Northwest and the Sonics over-the-air stations. He also hosted the Sonics pre-game
show on FOX Sports Net Northwest during the 1997-98 season. Johnson has also announced
college basketball games on FOX Sports Net, CBS and ESPN.
 
Marques began his broadcasting career announcing men’s basketball games on radio for his
alma mater UCLA. After a successful stint with the Bruins, Marques began his television career
as the studio analyst for Lakers games on Prime Ticket (now FOX Sports Net West).
 
While at UCLA, Marques was a three-time All-American and a member of the 1975 National
Championship team coached by legendary coach John Wooden. He was the first player awarded
with the John R. Wooden Award as the “National College Player of the Year” in 1977.
 
Following his outstanding college career, Johnson was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with
the third pick in the draft and played for them for seven seasons. He also played three seasons
for the Los Angeles Clippers and for the Golden State Warriors during a brief ten game comeback
attempt in 1989. Over his eleven-year NBA career, Marques averaged 20.1 points and 7 rebounds
per game.
 
Marques has also made several appearances on the big screen, including roles in such notable
films as: “White Men Can’t Jump”, “Blue Chips”, and “Speechless”. He has also made guest
appearances on several television shows including “LA Law”, “A Different World”, “Bay Watch”,
and “The Sinbad Show”.

Johnson resides in his hometown of Los Angeles.
