Leo Mazzone Analyst Reel

Leo Mazzone is widely recognized as one of the best pitching coaches in the history of Major
League Baseball. After being drafted out of high school in 1967, Leo spent the next 41 years
amassing a knowledge of pitching and baseball that is unparalleled. In 2008, Leo showcased
that knowledge of pitching and baseball as an analyst for Fox’s coverage of the MLB.

Prior to entering the broadcast booth, Leo was the longtime pitching coach for the Atlanta
Braves. Beginning in 1990, Leo helped to guide the careers of several Hall of Fame pitchers with
the Braves, including Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz. After his stellar 15 year
career as the Braves pitching coach, Leo moved on to Baltimore where he served as pitching
coach for the Orioles until 2007.

In 2005 ESPN.com recognized Leo as the best “assistant coach” in team sports history due to
his accomplishments as a pitching coach.
