Brian Jones joined CBS College Sports as a college football analyst in 2005. He brings a wealth
of football knowledge to the network and its acclaimed, weekly college football studio show
"Crystal Ball". Brian also serves as a game analyst and sideline reporter and is a co-host of
Fantasy Football Todayon cbssports.com.
Prior to working at CBS College Sports, Brian worked at Fox Sports Southwest as a College
Football and NFL analyst. During that time he also worked as a game analyst for NFL Europe
Brian got his start in television broadcasting when he became the sideline reporter for the Texas
Longhorn Sports Network on all University of Texas Football (UT) broadcasts in 2001. Jones also
served as the host of Longhorn Sports Center on Fox Sports Net, where he interviewed UT
coaches and players and recapped the week in sports. Before his television career, Jones was a
radio talk show host for 1300AM The Zone during the afternoon drive time slot and hosted a local
radio show in New Orleans on WWL-AM.
Prior to his broadcasting career, Jones was an All-Southwest Conference Linebacker at the
University of Texas, where he led the Longhorns in tackles from 1989-1990. In 1991 he was drafted
by the Los Angeles Raiders, and played in the National Football League for eight years as a member
of the Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, and New Orleans Saints.
Jones also has experience as an actor. Most recently Jones starred in Delman Moore’s film,
Steppin’ Back (2004). He has also appeared on television programs, including the USA Network’s
The Big Easy and NBC’s The Pretender, to name a few. Brian has also done endorsements for
Nike, Champion Sports Apparel and Knockout Sportwear.
Brian currently resides in Austin, Texas.
