James Lofton Analyst Reel


James Lofton is a former NFL and college football standout and 2003 inductee into the
Pro Football Hall of Fame. During his 16 NFL seasons as a wide receiver with the Green Bay
Packers, Los Angeles Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles, James
was elected to the Pro Bowl eight times and was recognized as All-Pro six times. James was
also a member of the NFL All-Decade team for the 1980’s and was elected to the Green Bay
Packers Hall of Fame. 
 
As a collegiate athlete at Stanford University, James was a 2nd Team All-American in football and
won the long jump at the 1978 NCAA Track and Field Championships.  
 
He was a first round pick of the Packers in 1978 where he went on to amass over 9,000 receiving
yards and become the Packers all time leading receiver. Over the course of his career, James
caught 764 passes for 14,004 yards and 75 touchdowns. He was also the first player in the NFL
to score a touchdown in the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s.   
 
After the conclusion of his playing career, James was still an active part of professional football,
first as a broadcast analyst for Westwood One Radio, and then as a wide receivers coach for the
San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders. 
 
In 2009, James returned to the broadcast booth as a member of Westwood One’s Sunday Night
radio team. He will cover the 2010 Super Bowl as a sideline reporter for the network.  
 
James resides in California with his wife Beverly and their three children.
