Seattle Mariners Play-by-Play

Dave Sims Broadcaster Reel


Dave Sims is a two-time Emmy Award winning sportscaster who is quite versatile behind the
microphone. Currently, Dave is in his third year as the TV play-by-play voice of the Seattle
Mariners, whose games air on Fox Sports Northwest. In addition, Dave continues to be a
mainstay on the college sports scene, where he has been calling basketball games for ESPN
Regional and ESPN since 1991. From 1997-2007, Dave also called Big East Football action on
ESPN Regional. Until 2008, Dave hosted "Inside the Big East", a syndicated show that premiered
in 2004 and focused on Conference Basketball and Football.

On the radio you can hear Sims calling Sunday night NFL play-by-play action for Westwood One
Radio Sports, where he has been calling NFL games since 1994. Dave also calls college
basketball games for Westwood One, including men's NCAA tournament action. Sims' other
radio duties include "Basketball and Beyond with Coach K", a weekly show on Sirius-XM Satellite
Radio that he co-hosts with Duke University and Basketball Hall of Fame  Coach, Mike Krzyzewski.

As busy and versatile as anyone in the country, Sims has worked at WCBS-TV as a
reporter/anchor, and has hosted talk shows at the Madison Square Garden Network and
WFAN-AM New York. He has called Major League Baseball (MLB) and college basketball and
football games for ESPN, hosted a National Football League (NFL) pre-game show in Philadelphia
and preseason play-by-play duties for the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sims also reported from
the Track & Field venue at the 1988 Seoul Olympics for NBC.

In the 1990s Dave provided play-by-play for CBS-TV’s coverage of the NCAA basketball
tournament and served as a sports anchor/reporter/host for WCBS-TV in New York. Dave’s work
on the local sports scene began with a seven year stint as a sportswriter for the New York Daily
News following his graduation from college.

In addition to his Emmy awards, Dave’s accolades include the 2005 Big East Conference Media
Award and the American Football Foundation’s 2003 Lindsey Nelson Outstanding Sportscaster
Award.

A Philadelphia native, Dave serves on the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, Chestnut Hill
Academy, and in 2006 was inducted into its Sports Hall of Fame. Sims is a graduate of Bethany
College in West Virginia where he majored in mass communications. Dave and his wife Abby, a
sports media coach and orthopedic/sports physical therapist, split their time between Seattle and
Manhattan. They have two adult sons.
