Chris Townsend Broadcasting Reel


Chris Townsend has spent the last 12 years compiling a diverse array of credits in the Northern
California sports landscape.

Currently, Chris hosts the pre and post game show for Oakland A's radio on KTRB 860 AM. He
also hosts a
national syndicated radio show for the Sports Byline Network, Sports Overnight
America with Chris Townsend
which can be heard on nearly 100 stations nation wide and on
over 500 stations in 177 countries through the American Forces Radio Network.


Prior to hosting the A's radio shows, Chris hosted a weekly San Francisco 49’ers television
show, 49’ers Insider, on Comcast SportsNet.  He also hosted SaberCats Weekly on Comcast
Sports Net Bay Area during the AFL season. In addition, Chris serves as the host for the live pre 
and post game shows and handles sideline reporting for the SaberCats.

Chris began his career in the Bay Area on KNBR 680, The Sports Leader where he was the
morning show’s resident sports authority.  While at The Sports Leader, Townsend also hosted
pre and post game shows for the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants and Golden State
Warriors in addition to producing and creating pre-game segments during Giants national
broadcasts.

While at KNBR, Chris anchored the station’s coverage of the AT&T National Pro AM for six years,
as well as the 1998 US Open at the Olympic Club, 2000 US Open at Pebble Beach, Super Bowl
XXXVII, 2003 Final Four,
and the 2002 World Series.

Chris has interviewed some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment including Willie
Mays, Bill Murray, Tiger Woods, Robin Williams, Joe Montana, Steve Young and Carmen Electra
while also representing some of the most recognizable names in the corporate world including
Cingular Wireless, Ford Motor Company, UPS, and Jack Nicklaus golf.

Chris graduated from San Jose State University where he was a member of the baseball team,
earning team captain honors his senior year.

Its no surprise Chris enjoyed success on the diamond. His grandfather, seven time all-star Bob
Elliott, was named the National League MVP in 1947.

Chris lives in San Jose with his wife and twin girls.
